Sussex, WI–Hamilton RFC held their first awards night in the school’s IMC, and was outlined by a state of the team address by Coach Barry Holloway who praised the parents, players, and coaches who helped build a team that exceed expectations in their inaugural season. In the speech, he outlined future plans to renovate the home field, purchase new training equipment, and review the possibilities of taking an international tour. He also announced that the team would begin using the moniker “Harriers,” as their official team nickname.
Many players won awards this year. Mykayla Pena (Junior) was named most improved. Assistant Captain Lauren Leonardi (Junior) was named MVP Back. Captain Hannah Pfersch (Sophomore) was named MVP Forward and Teammate of the Year. All-star awards were also handed out to the best players in each class (MVP winners were not eligible). Connie Sebald was select the top freshman, Taylor Fryda was awarded the top sophomore, Mackenzie Kolesari won as the top junior, and McKenzie Vang was the top senior this season.
Captains also spoke yesterday evening: handing out fun awards to each team member and thanking coaches and seniors.
