Cottage Grove, WI–Hamilton defeated Madison by forfeit on Saturday due to Madison’s low numbers. The win gave Hamilton their first undefeated regular season (4-0), and they became the first team other than CMH and DSHA to win a conference title since the league moved to a two-conference format over a decade ago.
Hamilton lent Madison some players, and the game took place as a scrimmage with Hamilton’s varsity taking full control of the first half before giving way to a JV side that made the game more competitive.
One notible moment from the game came when Meghan Rank became the first Hamilton player to score a drop goal in regulation play.
Hamilton will return to Cottage Grove next Saturday to play the varsity Stevens Point side for a trip to the state finals. It is Hamilton’s third-straight trip to the state semi-finals, and they are hoping this is the year they finally break through to the finals.
Hamilton JV will also have a full game on Saturday against a combined Madison and SPASH JV team.
